He received his medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1992 and completed his residency program in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine – Bayview in 1995.

He received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1985 and completed his residency program in Internal Medicine at Washington Hospital Center in 1988.
