Our physicians and health care team are experienced providers in four major areas of primary care:
Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatric Care and Cardiology.
Family Medicine
Our board-certified family practitioners and family medicine specialists are experienced in the comprehensive treatment of children through older adults. Family medicine focuses on continuity of care and knowing our patients lifestyle and healthcare needs at all different stages.
At each of our offices, our team of doctors, nurse practitioners and other providers emphasize disease prevention and wellness through the appropriate screenings and medical intervention programs. We are proud that we have a strong history of caring for entire families at Maryland Primary Care Physicians.
Internal Medicine
Internal medicine focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult health issues and disease. Our physicians include highly-trained internal medicine specialists who work with adult patients to maintain health and wellness. We also care for those with complex diseases and health issues.
Pediatric Care
Many of our family practitioners care for newborns, and all see toddlers through adolescents. From appropriate immunizations to the complete spectrum of pediatric primary care, our doctors help you get your child started on the path to good health for life.
Cardiology
Along with our knowledge of caring for older adults, we have two board certified cardiologists who practice at our Columbia office. A recently-expanded cardiology suite provides the latest in screening technology and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. Patients of any Maryland Primary Care practice location can schedule an appointment for cardiology services at Columbia.
Additional Services
In addition to the full-spectrum of primary care services, MPCP offers a wide range of services at many of our sites – ranging from joint injections, minor skin surgeries and mole removal, to Sports Physicals, BOTOX Cosmetic, DOT Physicals, and Cardiac and Vascular testing.
We can help you find a doctor or location to best meet your need.
MPCP provides DOT exams
The U.S. Dept. of Transportation (DOT) requires drivers of commercial motor vehicles to get physical examinations. Medical providers who give these exams must complete training from the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) to understand the regulations and screen a driver for medical issues that can affect the driver’s ability to safely drive a commercial vehicle. MPCP has NRCME-certified clinicians in our Arnold, Arundel Mills and Pasadena locations, so if you need to have a DOT exam, please contact us to schedule it.
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) Annual “Wellness” Visits
If you’ve had Medicare Part B for longer than 12 months, you are entitled to an “Annual Wellness” screening visit. Your MPCP provider will help to develop or update a personalized prevention plan to prevent disease and disability based on your current health and risk factors. We will ask you to fill out a questionnaire, called a “Health Risk Assessment,” as part of this visit. Answering these questions can help us develop a personalized prevention plan to help you stay healthy and get the most out of your visit. This form can be filled out at home and brought with you to the visit, if you wish. Along with an update of your general information, this visit includes:
- A review of your medical, surgical, social and family history
- A review of the current list of other providers involved in your healthcare
- A review of all your current medications, both from your primary care provider and any specialists you may see
- Measurement of your height, weight and blood pressure
- An assessment of cognitive impairments such as possible hearing impairments and fall risks
- A discussion of home safety
- A list of risk factors and treatment options for you
- Personalized health advice
- A screening schedule (like a checklist) for appropriate preventive services. Get details about coverage for screenings, shots, and other preventive services.
This visit is covered once every 12 months (11 full months must have passed since the last visit).
