Rachael Kearney, DNP

Rachael Kearney, DPN, joined Maryland Primary Care Physicians, LLC in 2025. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2019 and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2025 from University of Maryland School of Nursing.
What Made Them Decide to Go Into Medicine:
Rachael decided she wanted to work in healthcare after she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at age 11. Just prior to finishing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), she became very ill with Crohn’s. She credits her specialists and surgeons for saving her life, along with her own MPCP primary care physician, who stepped in to coordinate her care.
After she recovered, Rachael returned to school and finished her BSN. Though she loved being a nurse, she knew that she wanted to be a provider. After a few years, she applied for the UMSON Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, specifically the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track.
Rachael pursued family medicine so she can help patients of all ages, at all stages of life. Rachael saw firsthand the difference providers can make in their patients’ lives, the relationships they can build with them, and the major, life-altering diagnoses that could be prevented with the right care and attention.
When asked to describe her care philosophy, Rachael says, “I always strive to do the right thing for the right reason, treating each patient with the same respect, honesty, and evidenced-based care that I would want for my own family.”
Favorite Thing to Do in Maryland:
Rachael has lived on the Eastern Shore of MD her entire life. Right up the street from the Queenstown office is the Kent Narrows area. Whether you want to eat/drink, fish, or just enjoy the waterside, she suggests going there around sunset!
Fun Fact About Them:
- Rachael has an ileostomy. She understands the challenges patients sometimes face accessing care on the Eastern Shore, and she is excited to be able to help other patients with ileostomies and IBD navigate their care.
- Rachael loves many things, but most of all, she loves helping people in the community she grew up in, lives in, and loves. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to do what my MPCP PCP did for me in a time of great need. They were a lifeline to specialists that may be too far to get to at that moment. Living on the Eastern Shore has its logistical challenges – I understand deeply.”
