What Made Them Decide to Go Into Medicine
Dr. Abigail Carranza, DO joins MPCP-Annapolis from her residency at Texas A&M Family Medicine.
She credits her family’s commitment to community service for inspiring her career in medicine, saying, “Watching my parents be leaders in our church and care for others showed me that success means serving others. I chose medicine to serve in that same spirit, meeting people where they are and helping them stay healthy over the long run.”
Dr. Carranza enjoys seeing a variety of patients. “Service drew me to medicine; primary care kept me there. What I love about primary care is the range. In a single week, I can provide women’s health, manage complex chronic diseases, care for pediatric patients, and stay hands-on through office procedures.”
Favorite Thing to Do in Maryland
Dr. Carranza is new to Maryland, and is looking forward to building new traditions as she settles in. However, she’s already found a favorite place: “Pennsylvania Dutch Market. I feel like a kid in a candy store. I love it there!”
