Dr. Michael Riebman, President of MPCP, has announced his retirement from MPCP. After 45 years in medicine, Dr. Riebman plans to continue working full time through March 2026 and continue to work part time until his official retirement date of June 1, 2026.
“It has been a pleasure and honor to work with Dr. Riebman for the last 15 years,” said Leah Slack, Practice Manager at MPCP Annapolis. “He is kind and generous to the staff and is very well respected by all his patients. We are all excited for him, but we also know that he will be missed.”
Dr. Riebman shared the following letter with his patients earlier this fall:
After 45 years in medicine, I am writing to notify you of my upcoming retirement. I will be working full time until the end of March 2026, and to allow for a smooth transition I will continue to work part-time until my official retirement date of June 1, 2026.
Over the decades, it has been both a privilege and an honor to be part of your life and the lives of many of your family members. While I am looking forward to starting the next stage of my life with my wife of 45 years, my children and grandchildren, I will greatly miss the relationships we have developed over the years. The privilege of being entrusted with your personal and physical care has been an exceptional honor.
The stories we have shared and the friendships we have formed will stay with me forever. Many years ago, during a visit with a long-term patient of mine I said something about my patients. He looked at me and said “I know many of them. You don’t have patients…You have friends.” I know I will always remember many of you as friends and hope you remember me in the same way.
I have every confidence in the Providers at our Annapolis Site as well as the other MPCP offices and we will work hard to make sure your transition to a new Provider will be as smooth as possible.
I wish each and every one of you nothing but happiness and health over the years. You have enhanced my life by being a part of it.
Maryland Primary Care Physicians thanks Dr. Riebman for his years of service. We are grateful for his leadership, care, and example as an advocate for his patients. We wish him all the best in his next chapter.
