Marcus Oglesby, MSN-NP, joined Maryland Primary Care Physicians’ Glen Burnie office in 2026. He is committed to providing evidence-based care that helps patients feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout their health journey. He received his RN from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Marcus has always been drawn to helping people solve problems that directly impact their quality of life. He explains, “I have seen firsthand how improper health education leads to devastating outcomes.” Watching family members struggle to receive adequate care shaped his desire to combine knowledge, critical thinking, compassion, and cultural competency to help patients make informed decisions about their health.
His interest in medicine grew from the belief that primary care sits at the intersection of prevention, education, and advocacy. He values the opportunity to build long-term relationships and guide patients through meaningful lifestyle changes that support long-term health.
Prevention First: “Primary care appealed to me because it sits at the intersection of prevention, education, and advocacy. I enjoy looking at the whole person rather than a single diagnosis. Many of the health challenges people face can be improved through early intervention, lifestyle changes, and consistent support, and primary care allows me to be part of that process.”
Building Relationships: He finds it rewarding to earn a patient’s trust and to witness their growth. He often says, “Patients rarely need someone who knows everything. They need someone who listens, thinks critically, and genuinely cares.”
Collaborative Care: Marcus’ preceptorship with Dr. Green at MPCP Glen Burnie showed him the importance of teamwork and communication. He shares, “Great patient care is always a team effort.” He values the support of a coordinated care team and brings that same approach to every patient interaction.
What He Loves About Practicing in Maryland: He enjoys caring for patients from many different backgrounds and helping them navigate preventive care and chronic disease management. He says, “It is rewarding to know that small interventions and consistent support can make a meaningful difference in someone’s health.”
Outside the Office: He enjoys attending Jazz in the Garden at the National Gallery and watching The West Wing. He is also celebrating the New York Knicks’ recent championship win.
Inspired by: His parents taught him the importance of resilience, education, and treating people with respect. He explains, “Whenever I am facing something difficult, I think about the example they set.”
Fun Fact: He is very good at JENGA® and is usually one of the last players standing.
Favorite Travel Dream: He hopes to visit Japan, because he admires its blend of cultural tradition and modern innovation.
Guiding Philosophy: “Helping you stay healthy today while preventing problems tomorrow.”
