Why Dr. Roof Chose Family Medicine

Growing up in Plattsburgh, a small city in upstate New York, Dr. Roof saw the impact that limited access to primary care can have on individuals and families. That experience led her to family medicine, where she can build long-term relationships with patients and be a consistent part of their care.

Dr. Roof’s Approach to Primary Care

Focused on Education: An early research internship helped her discover how much she enjoys taking complex information, making it easier to understand, and helping others reach their own conclusions. Today, she brings that same approach to her patients by explaining their options in plain language.

Working Together: When you visit Dr. Roof, you can expect the appointment to feel like a conversation. She takes time to learn about her patients beyond their immediate medical concerns, including their families, routines, and what’s happening in their lives.

More About Dr. Roof

Outside the Office: Dr. Roof enjoys photography and even once won a local photography contest with photos she took on her phone! She’s also learning to play guitar, inspired by one of her favorite artists, Taylor Swift.

Getting to Know Maryland: New to the area, Dr. Roof is looking forward to exploring her new community, finding a local rowing team, and becoming a fan of a local minor league baseball team.

What Patients Have Taught Her: One thing that continues to surprise Dr. Roof is how much she learns from her patients. Their resilience and the ways they navigate challenges in their own lives continue to shape the way she thinks about health and living well.
