Dr. Christopher Stange joined Maryland Primary Care Physicians as a Family Medicine physician in 2026. He was drawn to Family Medicine because of its broad scope, flexibility, and the opportunity to care for patients with a wide range of health needs. He values lifelong learning, strong relationships, and clear communication with both patients and colleagues.
Dr. Stange’s interest in medicine began with a family friend who was an emergency medicine physician. During a medical mission trip to Guatemala, he had the opportunity to work alongside him and see firsthand the knowledge and skill involved in caring for patients. The experience inspired him to pursue medicine himself.
Early in his career, Dr. Stange found many different areas of medicine interesting and had difficulty settling on a single specialty. After crossing paths with several Navy Family Physicians, he came to appreciate their full-scope, broad training and ability to practice comfortably in a variety of medical environments. Their flexibility and adaptability ultimately drew him to Family Medicine.
Always Learning: One lesson that has stayed with Dr. Stange throughout his career is that “there is always something more to learn from someone.” He brings that mindset to both patient care and collaboration with his colleagues.
Building Long-Term Relationships: For Dr. Stange, one of the most rewarding parts of caring for patients over time is “witnessing victories” and seeing the progress they make along the way.
Teamwork and Communication: He believes good care also comes from asking questions, leaning on the knowledge and expertise of others, and communicating clearly across the care team.
Dr. Stange is especially interested in helping patients prevent heart disease and reduce their risk of future cardiovascular problems. He also follows emerging research on maintaining muscle strength as people age and the role vitamin supplementation may play in long-term health.
Outside the Office: Dr. Stange describes himself as a “half-decent fly angler” and enjoys spending time in the natural world.
An Annapolis Favorite: Vin 909 in Eastport is a favorite spot for Dr. Stange and his family from their time stationed at the Naval Academy.
Favorite Tradition: Eating blue crabs with his in-laws on the Fourth of July.
A Patient Comment He Won’t Forget: “I thought you were Dr. Strange. You know, from the movie…”
