MPCP Kent Island Practice Celebrates 20 Years of Service

In February the Kent Island practice of Maryland Primary Care Physicians located at 115 Sallitt Drive, Stevensville, MD celebrated 20 years of providing outstanding primary medical care to Eastern Shore residents. This highly successful practice began when one of the founding partner physicians, Tom Walsh, M.D. opened a small upstairs office on Stevensville’s Main Street in 1988. In 1990 James Chamberlain, M.D. joined the practice, followed by Jamie Harms, M.D. in 1992, and Dan Konick, M.D. in 1997. These partners have guided and grown the practice from its inception as Bay Area Primary Care Physicians, P.A., through its merger with Maryland Primary Care Physicians in 1996, to its present standing as the premier primary care group serving the Eastern Shore. What began as one doctor seeing a handful of patients per day, has now grown to a practice consisting of nine providers treating hundreds of patients each day.

When asked the practice’s secret to its continued growth and outstanding reputation within the community, Dr. Chamberlain responded “we pride ourselves on taking time with our patients; our goal is to attend to the whole person, and the most effective way of doing this is to really get to know them. As providers, we always strive to deliver high quality care, in a personalized manner. We are very proud of the fact that we have been taking care of multiple generations of families throughout every stage of their lives in this community for the past 20 years.”

Dr. Chamberlain noted that being responsive to patient needs, such as extending office hours during the week to include early mornings and evenings and soon to be announced Saturday morning hours beginning in March, is just another way of providing exceptional service to patients entrusting their care to us. “We are committed to this community – we’ve been here for 20 years and we’re looking forward to the next 20 years and beyond.”
