Sports Medicine

Our physicians, Dr. William Dabbs and Dr. Garth Ashbeck are trained in the medical practice of Sports Medicine. We treat the wide range of injuries and illnesses common to athletes. This includes acute muscular skeletal injuries, chronic injuries, viral and bacterial infections common to athletes, and skin infections including MRSA.

When necessary, we work closely with our orthopedic consultants in the community for more difficult problems. We also maintain a close working relationship with community physical therapists, so the athlete can heal as quickly as possible.

Dr. William Dabbs has spent the last 20 years as Broadneck High School’s football team physician, and is on the sideline of each game to manage any acute injuries that may occur. In 2009 he received the Volunteer of the Year Award from BNHS.

Dr. Garth Ashbeck has been a successful Division I tennis player, with tournament wins in the U.S. and Europe. He has also served as an on-field sports medicine physician for the past 14 years and is experienced in the treatment of acute and chronic sports related injuries.
