In addition, we have a large staff of medical assistants, administrative assistants and laboratory assistants. Our practice offers high quality comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages, with an emphasis on preventive care. We perform minor skin surgeries, such as minor laceration repairs, in addition to diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. Policies
We understand your life is a busy one and value your time. In an effort to stream-line your visit to maximize the most benefit, we ask that you schedule a routine appointment a couple weeks ahead of the desired date and physicals, about 1 month ahead. We do try to accommodate acute and urgent visits within 24-48 hours. If you are dealing with a true life-threatening emergency, we urge you to call 911. Cell phone use is discouraged during your appointment. Because it is our desire to respect our patients’ time by staying on schedule, we ask that you arrive at least 5-minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time so you will be registered and ready to be seen by the provider at your appointed time. If you are a new patient, please arrive at least 15-minutes ahead of time. You can expedite the new patient registration process by printing and completing the required medical history form found on our website ahead of time and bringing it with you to your appointment. If you are delayed and arrive more than 15-minutes past your scheduled appointment time, you may be asked to reschedule, so those patients scheduled after you are not delayed. If you need to cancel your appointment, it is best to do so with a 24-hour notice so we can accommodate other patients who may desire an appointment. Sometimes, this may not be possible but we urge you to call as soon as you become aware of your schedule change. Inclement Weather Return to Top In the event of bad weather, we will make every effort to contact you to let you know that we are closed. If we do close, once we return to the office, we will make every effort to reschedule you as soon as possible. When you leave a message for your provider, he or she will be making calls between patient appointments so you may receive the call-back a few hours later. We do try to return all calls within 24-hours. If you feel the call-back is truly urgent, please notify the receptionist when you call so she may prioritize it. Please allow 2 business days for prescription refills. Refills can also be mailed, picked up, or faxed to a pharmacy. We cannot fax to a mail-order pharmacy, so these prescriptions will be mailed to you or may be picked up. Allow adequate time to get the prescription and mail it to the mail-order pharmacist, usually 2-3 weeks. Make sure when you call, the name of the medication is given as well as the dosage, the pharmacy name and location. In order to provide excellent care, the providers will need to see you periodically for visits to address your condition. No prescription will be given if you have not been seen within the past year. If you have a condition which warrants a follow-up every 3-6 months, the provider may give a short supply of medication until you can schedule an appointment. Please allow 2 business days for referrals. Familiarize yourself with your insurance plan so you know whether a referral is needed before a visit with the specialist. We will be happy to mail it to your address, keep it at the front desk for pick-up, or fax it to the specialist. When you call, let the receptionist know who you will be seeing and why so she can forward the appropriate information to the provider. Accessibility (Hours of Phone Operation) Return to Top Our phones are open M-W 7:00AM-6:00PM; Th 7:00 AM-7:00 PM; F 8:00-5:00 PM; Sat 9:00AM-12:00PM. After Hours / Weekends Return to Top If you have an urgent problem when the office is closed, a message on our answering machine will give you a number to call for the on-call doctor. This number is for emergencies only and is not intended for routine refills, referrals, narcotic prescriptions, or second opinions about on-going care. These must be addressed during normal business hours. Medical Records Release Return to Top Medical records of services rendered at our office remain the property of Maryland Primary Care Physicians. Should you request and/or authorize the release of copies of your medical records, you will need to sign a HIPAA compliant release to begin the process. There are fees involved with obtaining copies of your records. Under Maryland law, record requests for personal use are charged a fee of $0.73 per page plus the cost of actual postage. All other requests (insurance, attorneys, etc.) are subject to a fee that includes $0.73 per page, a preparation fee of $22.18 and the cost of actual postage. An invoice will be sent to the person or entity requesting the records.
